Last Thursday, the Boys and Girls Swim Teams completed their regular season with a section meet at Deer Lakes. Both teams were victorious with the Girls score of 82-64 and the Boys score of 89-62. For the Boy’s Team, the victory put the finishing touches on their third section championship in a row as well as their third consecutive undefeated regular season.
Turning in victories in the individual events for the Girl’s Team were Senior Katherine McFarland in the 500 Freestyle, Junior Karen Siddoway in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley, Junior Brianna Nowka in the 100 Butterfly, Sophomore Eleanor Hardiman in the 200 Freestyle, and Freshman Danica Raich in the 100 Breaststroke. The Girls also one each of the relay events with a combination of Siddoway, Nowka, Senior Ava Groll, Junior Tess Theobald, Sophomores Angie Patarini and Kaylee Madey and Freshman Carly Spahr.
For the Boy’s, Senior Zech Boyce continued to update the school record board by setting new marks in his victories in the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Boyce also contributed victories in two of the relay event teaming with Senior Nick Madey, Sophomore Luke Wagner and Freshman Cooper Groll in the 200 Freestyle Relay and with Madey, Junior Aiden Sommers and Sophomore Luke Tomzcak in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team of Madey, Sommers, Tomczak, and Groll also won the 200 Medley Relay. The team also swept the individual events with wins posted by Madey in the 100 Breaststroke, Sommers in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley, Tomczak in the 100 Butterfly, and Groll in the 50 and 100 Freestyle.
The swimmers will compete in WPIAL qualifying meets this weekend and will have their final WPIAL prep meet on February 22 at home against Valley.
